Yes, you can use a debit card BUT we STRONGLY advise against it for two reasons:
- You need a bank balance of at least twice the expected fees for the submission to be able to cover both the pre-authorization fees and the fees charged for the submission after the clerk accepts the submission. While this is also true for credit cards, the credit limit on the credit card is usually not as much of an issue as is the bank balance for a debit card.
- If the filing is rejected or the clerk changes the fees at the time of accepting the filing, the fees remain as pending (debited against the bank balance) or at least three and possibly four days.
